AS/400 Using Power Panel Plus & Category 5

A star wired cabling system allows easy network moves, changes, and additions.  The Power Panel Plus offers this benefit plus more with a number of features not found in most similar products. Because the Power Panel Plus supports either RJ-11 or RJ-45 connections, it can be used in virtually any unshielded twisted pair (UTP) cabling system.  Whether your building is wired to the EIA/TIA 568-A structured wiring standard with Cat. 5 cable or to the USOC wiring standard with older Type 3 cable, the Power Panel Plus will perform.  The unit incorporates repeater technology which not only regenerates the incoming signal on each port, but also filters out unwanted electrical noise that is commonly present near fluorescent lighting and equipment such as motors and generators.  When the Power Panel Plus must be installed some distance from the host, a multiplexer card can be inserted into its chassis to allow connection to the host over just one twinax, UTP or duplex fiber optic cable.  A stand-alone mux installed at the host side will multiplex all eight controller ports over one composite link.  The mux card in the Power Panel Plus chassis will demultiplex the eight controller ports and internally connect them to the proper Power Panel Plus card.  Expandability means that you only purchase the number of ports you need at any given time.  Expansion slots in the Power Panel Plus chassis allow the insertion of additional cards, each supporting one controller port or up to seven devices.  The Power Panel Plus is a good choice for anyone needing compatibility with virtually all UTP structured cabling systems.  Plus, it has the added features and performance required for todayís midrange computing environment.
