St. Bernard Software Inc. is a global provider of security solutions that protect against data loss, system threats, Internet abuse and unsolicited email. Through its products and services, St. Bernard Software helps companies protect their bottom line by securing networks against major risks before they happen.

Today, St. Bernard Software is best recognized for coming to the rescue of LAN administrators worldwide by delivering quality products with extraordinary sales and technical support. Through the years, the company has gained significant presence within the highly competitive networking marketplace, evolving from merely an idea into a successful market leader.

The development of St. Bernard Software began with the sale of Emerald Systems, a successful network backup company, created in 1985. Emerald Systems remained a leading provider of backup software and hardware to major corporations until 1994, when it was acquired by NCE, a national independent sales and service organization based in San Diego. With funds generated by the sale of Emerald Systems, a core team of networking and storage management professionals founded St. Bernard Software.

In April of 1995, operations began with 12 employees and one product. In partnership with technology group Intelligence Quotient International, Ltd. (IQI), St. Bernard Software introduced its first product, Open File Manager™ for NetWare servers, to the market in May of 1995. A critical tool for IT professionals, Open File Manager offered consumers a unique layer of protection for complete data security. Traditionally, files that are open and in use are skipped during the backup process, leaving frustrated IT professionals unable to restore critical data. A large percentage of these skipped files are mission critical databases, email communications, and web server data - files that if lost, would severely impact a company's ability to do business. St. Bernard Software's Open File Manager filled this hole in the data backup process as the only open file solution to allow ALL major backup programs to consistently capture open files and relational applications, without disrupting ongoing transactions or jeopardizing data integrity.

In June of 1996, St. Bernard Software announced Open File Manager for Windows NT servers and workstations. In the following two years, additional versions (NT Server for DEC Alpha platforms, NT workstations and localization for Japan), as well as feature enhancements were driven by the company's customer-oriented focus.

The company continued its advancement in the marketplace by developing and marketing its own unique open file solution independent of IQI. With financial support from such companies as Seagate and Legato, St. Bernard Software officially released its own open file solution, Open File Manager for NT Servers in March 1998. The NetWare version of Open File Manager quickly followed in November 1998, and the product continues to set the standard in open file technology performance. St. Bernard Software has since reached an impressive milestone, celebrating over 300,000 licenses of Open File Manager sold to IT professionals around the world.

St. Bernard Software has grown to become a leading provider of security solutions while maintaining its unwavering focus on customer satisfaction. Its 200 customers per month growth rate is fueled by its award winning network security solutions - Open File Manager™, UpdateEXPERT®, iPrism®, SecurityEXPERT™ and ePrism. St. Bernard's products deliver results that protect organizations' bottom lines - from corporate giants to well-known financial institutions, universities and hospitals.

In 2000, St. Bernard Software broadened its security expertise by acquiring a hotfix and security pack management product, which eventually became UpdateEXPERT. In the same year, St. Bernard bought Internet Products Inc., an Internet filtering company with an appliance-based solution called iPrism. In August 2003, St. Bernard introduced the ePrism Mail Filter. ePrism features a unique combination of email security, spam protection, anti-virus and content control. A year later, SecurityEXPERT, system vulnerability management software was added to St. Bernard's family of products. The addition of SecurityEXPERT, a solution for hardening systems against attacks, strengthens St. Bernard's existing core product line and reaffirms the company's commitment to providing strong network security solutions to organizations.

St. Bernard Software is headquartered in one of the world's fastest growing high tech centers, San Diego, California. St. Bernard Software currently markets products that provide corporate and e-business administrators with cutting edge technology for optimizing storage health, configuration, and Internet access management.
